Study finds sex and exercise are the activities that make us happiest

Having sex makes us happier than any other activity.

A study by researchers at London School of Economics and Political Science that looked at how people’s feelings are affected by their environment is shedding light on what makes us happy.

Dr. George MacKerron and Dr. Susana Mourato created the Mappiness mobile app and surveyed 46,000 iPhone users from the U.K. and across the globe to find out when, where and why people feel the happiest.

Participants downloaded the free Mappiness app from the App Store and signed up for the study by providing consent to share their data and answering a few questions about their age, gender and health.

Users also chose what time they wanted to receive between one and five random notifications every day. When receiving the notification, the user would open the app and report how they were feeling, who they were with, whether they were indoors or outdoors and what they were doing.

The researchers analyzed the data while adjusting for location and weather to find out what makes us happiest.

Top 3 activities that make us happy

According to MacKerron, the top three activities that respondents said made them happy were:
1.    Intimacy, making love
2.    Sports, running, exercise
3.    Theatre, dance, concert

Sexercise connection

For people who get happiness from sex and exercise, combining both activities can make Sexercise the best of both worlds.

Sexercise is an active lifestyle that provides couples with ways to combine sex and exercise with healthy food choices to keep fit, have fun and maintain happiness.

Sexual intercourse burns between 69 to 100 calories in a half hour. It is more fun than exercise outside the bedroom and sex can count as another workout option in a couple’s fitness plan for a healthy lifestyle.

Working out with your partner is a necessary part of the sexercise lifestyle. Pairing up motivates both partners to stay active, which has been shown to release endorphins, ramp up libido, and lead to better sex.
